Social determinants of migrants’ health across
Asia and Europe

(Proceedings)

International migration is one of the most important issues of the global policy agenda. The ASEF Public Health Network’s research initiative on health and migration aims to contribute to policy development process and to implementation of evidence-based policies and programmes across Asia and Europe. As part of this endeavour, a panel of experts from academia, governments, civil society organisations addressed the social, economic, cultural, structural and environmental determinants that affect migrants’ health at the 1st Research Exchange Workshop, co-organised by ASEF and Casa Asia on 7-9 March 2012 in Barcelona, Spain.

The contents of the publication include the main discussion points on paradigm shits in migration and health, migration trends in Asia and Europe, state of health of Asian migrants, multi-stakeholder response to migrants’ health issues, areas for further research, and recommendations for strengthening Asia-Europe collaboration.
